santa barbara bachelorette party

Last weekend I had the honor of hosting my best friend's Bachelorette Party!  We wanted a fun location for a girl's weekend of wine tasting, relaxing and catching up with old friends, so Santa Barbara was an easy choice.  Next up was where to stay.  With so many awesome hotels in the area (I'm already planning a getaway to The Goodland!), it was a tough choice!  Keeping our large group in mind, we settled on a quaint cottage tucked just behind the Butterfly Beach & the Four Seasons.  After battling the LA traffic, I figured everyone would be in the mood for some refreshments - and what better way to kick off a girl's weekend than a mimosa bar and cheese board?!  A quick DIY kraft paper table runner along with a few of my Crate & Barrel party staples was the perfect way to dress up the table.

For Saturday, we were off to Santa Barbara's most eclectic neighborhood, the appropriately named Funk Zone, for a day of wine tasting on the Urban Wine Trail.  That's right, the URBAN wine trail, a series of tasting rooms located throughout downtown Santa Barbara - brilliant!  Our first stop was Corks n' Crowns, a funky little tasting room serving small production California wines and craft beers.  Don't miss the rose flight!

For our next stop, we strolled just around the corner to Riverbench, a chic tasting lounge.  While they had a number of flights available, the weather was warming up, and we had just one thing on our minds - bubbles!  With two bottles of their Cork Jumper popped, we settled in to sip our bubbly and swap giggle inducing stories about our bride to be.  The staff at Riverbench could not have been any sweeter and when asked for restaurant recommendations, even tracked down menus for their favorite local lunch spots!

After a quick stop for lunch at Mony's ($1.75 chicken mole tacos!) the hole in the wall, authentic taco shop recommended by the Riverbench Team, we were off to our final winery, AVA Santa Barbara.  With stunning murals in the background, AVA's staff offered a guided tasting of Santa Barbara's 5 AVA's or American Viticultural Areas.  We all agreed geography is much more interesting when wine is involved!

After a full day of wine flights, bubbly, mole tacos and wine geography (wineography?), we were in desperate need of some caffeine.  A quick Yelp search brought us to Rebar Coffee and boy were we glad it did.  As a self-admitted coffee snob, my coffee compliments do not come easily, but Rebar Coffee...AMAZING!  So amazing that I completely forgot to take photos.  But trust me, next time you're in Santa Barbara, you WANT some Rebar Coffee!

After a quick recoup we were excited for our bride's last hoorah, and we wanted to send her off in style.  Tutus seemed like the obvious choice!  A huge thank you to the wonderful wineries for their hospitality and all the lovely ladies who made the weekend so special!
